In January of this year, I uploaded a post titled ‘23 things to do before 23‘ where I listed 23 things I wanted to achieve before I turn 23 next January. One item on this list was to learn how to make cocktails at home, since, living in London, a cocktail can easily cost at least £8 and I knew that I could easily make some of these cocktails at home for a cheaper cost (in the long run). Also, knowing how to make three of my favourite cocktails seemed like a good thing to know for any future flat parties that I may want to throw. All the recipes below are for one person but can easily be multiplied to make a pitcher for multiple guests.
Sex On The Beach

- Ice cubes
- 25 ml vodka
- 25 ml peach schnapps
- 75 ml cranberry juice
- 75 ml orange juice
- Lemon or lime slices to serve
Mix all of the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker and serve!
Classic Mojito

- Ice cubes
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tsp granulated sugar (I used sugar syrup instead)
- Small handful of mint leaves
- 60 ml white rum
- Soda water
Crush the mint leaves using the end of a rolling pin before mixing with the lime juice and sugar, topping up with ice cubes and soda water as needed.
Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri
- 250 g strawberries, hulled
- 100 g ice
- 50 ml rum
- Juice of 1/4 lime
Blend all of the strawberries together first before pushing through a sieve to remove some of the seeds. Blend the strawberries again but this time add the ice, rum and lime juice.
My favourite cocktail of these three was definitely the Sex On The Beach but this is also my favourite cocktail to order in a bar anyway so I was probably biased. The cocktails actually turned out a lot better than expected although I would perhaps try tonic water with the mojito instead of soda water. Also, I would not recommend making all of these in the same day unless you want to get quite tipsy!
What is your favourite cocktail?
Hahaha love the “wouldn’t recommend doing them all at once” warning 😂 getting tipsy is the aim 😉 Making cocktails at home is literally one of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday night xx

There were 2 shots in each of the drinks and we made a pitcher of the sex on the beach so easily 6+ shots! I always forget how small I am until I drink and get tipsy really quickly!! It was definitely cheaper than getting drinks out though and a lot nicer being able to lounge on the sofa drinking them. xx

If you like sweet drinks, try a mocktail sex on the beach (or cuddles on the beach as it is commonly called!) – peach nectar, cranberry juice and orange juice or if you like mint, try a mocktail mojito – club soda, mint leaves and lime juice. Just google popular and easy mocktails and there are quite a few recipes to try. xx

I had a Pina Colada on an all-inclusive holiday once… definitely not for me! I am not a fan of coconut or pineapple. xx

Could a post speak to me any more? I don’t think so. (I am not an alcoholic, I swear, I’m just a girl who loves a good cocktail. And as you most likely know, they can be SO EXPENSIVE, so knowing a few recipes that you can make at home is always a plus. xx

Haha I feel you! I love cocktails but I wish that they did not contain alcohol so it was acceptable to drink all day, every day! I have tried to make mocktails of my favourite drinks at home but they are never as good. xx
