Just over a month ago, my best friend asked me a question in her letter that got me thinking about a potential new series that I could start on my blog. The question was about an artist that I thought was underappreciated by the general public and it got me thinking about all these artists that I love but yet they never seem to get the recognition that they deserve. So I decided to trial a new series on my blog called ‘Just Hannah Discovers’ where I introduce a musical artist that I love but perhaps some of my readers have not heard of before.
Disclaimer: I am aware that I am not ‘discovering’ these artists but hopefully there will be at least one of my readers who will discover a new artist to add to their current playlist.

Who is Sarah Close?
Sarah Close is a 24 year old English singer-songwriter. Originally from the Isle of Wight, she moved to London in 2013 to study music and songwriting. She first gained popularity through her YouTube channel where she would upload covers of popular songs before finally releasing her debut single in 2017.
What is your favourite song of hers and why?
Caught Up. I think that the song is really catchy but also love how Sarah’s personality is reflected in the song – she comes across as a very playful and sarcastic person in her videos and I think that really stands out in this song.
What song do you relate to the most and why?
London. As many of you will already know, I lived in London for two out of the three years that I went to University there and whilst I loved the busyness of London most of the time, I would find myself missing the peace and quiet of Surrey as well as my family as I personally found living in student halls to be quite isolating.
What is your favourite music video of hers and why?
Only You. Being a huge fan of Taylor Swift, my favourite music videos are those which tell a story and compliment the song, which this music video does. I found that music videos similar to this help me to relate to the song more and therefore fall more in love with it.
What is your favourite lyric of hers and why?
‘I may be fucked but I can do it on my own I like the time alone’
This lyric is taken from her song Caught Up and is about wanting to walk home from a party alone but instead this guy, who has been hitting on her all night, is insisting on walking her home, a seemingly gentlemanly move. As someone that loved walking home from nightclubs or just taking a late evening walk alone, I feel that I can relate to this lyric.
Have you ever seen her perform live?
I have been fortunate enough to see Sarah perform live twice – once in November 2018 and again in April 2019.
What song would you recommend to new listeners?
Crazy Kind. It is a really fun and catchy song and gets stuck in your head easily.
What did you think of the first post in this series? Are there any artists you would like to see a similar post on?
First off i love this series, music is bae😀 and can’t wait to to read and listen to your discoveries starting now off to give her a listen

Thank you! I cannot remember when I first started to watch her videos but I remember when she released her first music video and that is when I fully started to get invested in her music. You should definitely try to see her live next time she performs – she is just as good in person as on record. xx
