January Favourites

New Year, New Series. I am a huge fan of Favourite posts as I love seeing what other people have been loving recently and getting suggestions for new beauty products to try or movies to watch. Therefore, I decided to write one of my own, in case anyone else is looking for new products to try in February.

Music

Capital Letters – Hailee Steinfield ft BloodPop

My My My! – Troye Sivan

IDGAF – Dua Lipa

Him & I – G-Eazy ft Halsey

S.L.U.T. – Bea Miller

Films & TV

Dynasty

A modernised reboot of the 1980s primetime soap follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control of their fortune and their children.

I watched the first episode of Dynasty because I am a huge of Elizabeth Gillies from when she used to star on Victorious, but I stayed for the scandal and drama that is present in every episode. The second half of the first season is currently being uploaded on a weekly basis to Netflix and it is an understatement to stay I am obsessed.

Gossip Girl

An American teen drama revolving around the fictional lives of upper-class adolescents living in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

Gossip Girl first aired in 2007 but it was not until 2012 when the final episode aired that I caught on to the hype and binge-watched the entire six seasons. I was addicted to the scandal and drama that followed each of the main characters and honestly, I think that is when my obsession with New York City began. I am currently re-watching it for the third time and I am loving every episode.

Beauty

Makeup Revolution Soph X Highlighter Palette

Anyone who knows me personally will know that I am obsessed with highlighter and especially the lilac highlighter of Soph’s palette. As a cool-toned person, it is the perfect colour to bring out my eyes and ensure that my highlighter can be seen from space.

Superdrug Pro Care Charcoal Toothpaste

I have always been a bit self-conscious of how yellow tinted my teeth are, which becomes even more apparent when I wear darker lipsticks. Therefore, I decided to try charcoal toothpaste since I have heard amazing things about their whitening qualities. I have not looked back since. I can visibly see the difference it has made to my teeth and I am hoping with continued use, I will finally get to a place where I feel comfortable wearing darker lipsticks outside.

Books

Flirts! 5 Romantic Short Stories by Lisa Scott

It’s wedding season and love is in the air with five romantic short stories.

What I love about these stories are that they are perfect for killing time on short commutes which is a common occurrence for me living in London. However, they did leave me with a need to find The One as soon as possible…

My Secret Rockstar Boyfriend by Eleanor Wood

Geeky girl meets famous boy… what could go wrong? From one girl’s blog to the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, this is a love story for anyone who has ever wished that someone would sing a love story just for them. Dreams can come true…

As someone whose childhood was defined by the music of Busted and McFly and teenage years by the music of 5 Seconds of Summer and One Direction, I know what it is like to have a crush on a boy who is seemingly unattainable. Whilst I have come to terms with the fact that Ashton Irwin and I will probably never date, this book allows me to live vicariously through Tuesday and imagine what it might be like to date a rockstar.

Extraordinary Means by Robin Schneider

When he’s sent to Latham House, a boarding school for sick teens, Lane thinks his life may as well be over. But when he meets Sadie and her friends – a group of eccentric troublemakers – he realises that maybe getting sick is just the beginning. That illness doesn’t have to define you, and that falling in love is its own cure.

Be warned, this book will make you cry. I probably should have expected that judging by the description of the book, but I was still shocked to find myself crying two-thirds of the way through the book. I am just grateful that I read this on my Kindle because otherwise the paperback would probably be soaked with tears!

What have you been loving this month? Are you Team B or Team S?

    • I actually binge-watched that on my day off! So productive a use of my spare time haha. I didn’t actually think that highly of it but perhaps that’s because I’m no longer a teenager. I’m Team S haha – my best friend and I always joke that she’s B and I’m S.

    • This is so weird because I was literally thinking about watching The Vampire Diaries! GG is being taken off Netflix soon so I wanted to find something new to watch but wasn’t sure whether TVD was the one.
