How My Blog Started:

I have always loved writing, especially creative writing, but as I grew older there became less opportunities to do this. I dropped English after GCSEs and the only essay writing A Level I did was History but that was more fact writing than creative. So when I went to University, I decided to start a blog. It wasn’t until June of this year that I actually began posting on a regular basis though.

Advice to New Bloggers:

Post what you want to post, not what you think people want to read. It might be easier to get followers through posting about trending topics but ultimately you are not going to enjoy blogging if you aren’t genuinely interested in what you are writing about. It may take longer but you will get a following through similar-minded people who genuinely enjoy reading your posts.

Look at your stats but don’t obsess over numbers. It’s quite good every so often to have a look at your most popular posts to see what your followers enjoy reading about most or to see who are your top commenters so you can thank them, but don’t fixate on them. Just like a watched kettle never boils, the numbers won’t change just because you’re looking at them!

My Nominees:

The Sweet Everythings
Female Original

If I didn’t nominate you, comment below your plans for this weekend! I am actually going to visit a friend of mine at University for the first time so I’m very excited!!!

  1. Congrats! And excellent advice for new bloggers. Sometimes I think it might be better to post similar to what is most liked and viewed… but then I remember I wanted to start blogging about things I’m interested in! Even if it might not be popular, I have to write what I want to write otherwise I’d feel like a sellout.
