I love home décor. Therefore when I moved into my student flat for the year, I was ecstatic because I had a brand new room to decorate! Unfortunately for me, home décor can get quite expensive and as a student, there isn’t a lot of money to spare, but I think I did a pretty good job regardless.
When you walk into my room, the first thing you see is my bed. The bedframe and the headboard are both from Ikea, according to my landlord. I am so lucky this year to have a double bed as most student accommodations are single bed and I do love having the extra space to spread out. It’s also useful for when my friends stay over because student rooms tend to be small and it’s a struggle to fit an air mattress in on top of all the furniture. My fitted sheet is white whilst my duvet and pillow covers are either blue (as pictured below) or a baby pink colour. I cannot find the website I got mine from but I found some similar here. The cushion is from Wilkinson but I got it last year so unfortunately it’s no longer available.
To the right of the doorway are a chest of drawers and my wardrobe. Since I’m not allowed to stick anything on the walls due to it leaving marks, I decided to stick some photos on the side of my wardrobe using white-tac. I printed off a few of my favourite pictures from Instagram and mounted them to coloured paper to look like an Instagram feed.
On my windowsill are the majority of my room decorations. Starting from left to right, the potted plant is from Ikea and the glass glitter frame is from New Look. I bought the glass glitter frame on sale so it is no longer available but have linked a similar one here.
The postcard in the frame was a gift was my best friend Grace and she got it from Cards Galore. The wooden Polaroid frame is also from New Look in the sale. I have yet to pin my own Polaroid pictures to it. The sea salt diffuser is from Primark.
Lastly are my lights. I wrapped a strand of battery-operated fairy lights around my headboard, which are quite useful at night because the light switch is the other side of the room for my main light, and the room is so small I always end up tripping over something on the floor on the way back! I originally intended to hang the ‘dream’ sign above my bed but was worried about marking the walls so my flatmate helped me to hook it onto my headboard. New Look no longer sell the ‘dream’ sign on their website but they have a ‘unicorn’ one which is pretty cool!
I hoped you liked this insight into my University room. If you have any ideas on how to further improve it or any cheap places to get home décor, please comment below.
